What programs are offered?

Commercial Driver Training Class A. Class A vehicles are gross weight 80K+ (semis) We DO NOT offer any other class other than A. The student will earn a MI state certificate to take to the Secretary of State to get a new license.

This course provides training on how to successfully maneuver, inspect, operate, and park a truck with a 53 feet trailer. In addition, the course class provides instruction on Department of Transportation (DOT) applicable regulations for carrying cargo, such as driving, sleeping, and weight distribution requirements.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Complete Pre-Trip Inspection
  2.  Double Shift
  3. Successfully maneuver and control a truck
  4.  Successfully park A truck  
  5. Drive in the City and the Highway
  6. Understand DOT regulations and compliance, and more.

How long is the program?

The program is 150 hours long and can be completed full time in 4 weeks / part time is available and completion of course depends on the student’s availability.

What do I need to register?

In order to register the student must have a valid MI driver’s License, a Commercial Learner’s Permit, DOT Medical Card, and pass a DOT drug test.

What is the Commercial Learner’s Permit?

The Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) is obtained from the Secretary of State by completing three multiple choice examinations. The three tests are (1) General Knowledge, (2) Combination Vehicle, and (3) Air Brakes.

What is the DOT Medical Card?

The DOT medical card, also known as a DOT physical is a physical examination that proves that you are physically capable of safely operating a commercial vehicle and have no health issues that could be potentially dangerous to other motorists. It can be obtained from any clinic approved by the DOT such as Work Health or Lansing Urgent Care.

What is the Class Schedule?

Classes are held Monday through Friday. Contact us for information about the next available class.

What is the Credibility of the Training?

This training has been available since 2016

What is the Program Cost?

The program costs $3900. We offer payment plans, discounts, and a Michigan Works program that can help pay for the entire tuition.  

Are There any Discounts Offered?

We can offer discounts of up to $900. Contact our office for requirement to be approved for a discount.  

Are Payment Plans Available?

Payment plans are available. To be approved for a payment plan you must deposit at least 50% of the total cost. Full tuition must be paid before graduating from the class.

What is the Michigan Works program?

We are affiliated with Michigan Works. The application process is all done through Michigan Works and once approved they send the information to Family Help. Michigan Works will pay for the entire tuition based on student approval.

Is Financial Aid Available?

 We do not offer financial aid. Instead you may take advantage of the Michigan Works program.

Is work placement available?

Work placement is currently not available. Sometimes recruiters visit the school.

What language are the classes?

Class contents are in English. Inspections are in English.

Are there classes in Spanish?

Hablamos Español. We speak Spanish. We can work with your language needs.

What is the Final Test like?

After 150 training hours completed with us, you will take a Final Skills Test by a third party, MI state testing center. The Skills test consists of three phases,

  1.  Pre trip Inspection (knowledge of all parts and safety equipment in the cabin and outer part of truck such as suspension, brakes, tires, coupling system for tractor and trailer)
  2.  Control and maneuvering (shifting properly, completing the 90 degree parking, the offset parking, and the straight back parking)
  3. On the road driving (driving in city and highway).

Final Test costs $150 and is not included in the tuition cost. Michigan Work students will be compensated for this cost by Michigan Works.

How Flexible is the Class Schedule?

We are flexible and do our best to accommodate your schedule needs. 

Classes are available Monday through Friday and are held throughout the day. You might choose to come all these days or any of these days.
