Course Description
This course provides training on how to successfully maneuver, inspect, operate, and park a truck with a 53 feet trailer. In addition, the course provides instruction on Department of Transportation (DOT) applicable regulations for carrying cargo, such as driving, sleeping, and weight distribution requirements.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Complete Pre-Trip Inspection
- Successfully maneuver and control the truck
- Successfully Double Shift
- Successfully park the truck backwards and forward
- Understand DOT regulations and compliance
Pre-Requisites
Student must be at least 18 years of age
Student must have a Valid Driver’s License
Student must have a Commercial Driver’s Permit (Secretary of State)
Student must have a DOT Medical Examiner Certificate for Commercial Drivers.
Also referred to as a DOT Physical. (Work Health, Lansing Urgent Care)
Student must go through a DOT drug screening and show a negative result.

Attendance Requirement
Regular attendance and active participation are essential elements in the learning process. Students are to notify the instructor of a planned absence a minimum of 24 hours prior to the course meeting time. Missed training sessions must be reschedule with instructors to be made up.
